Classic houseplant, easy to grow!

Light: Direct light can scorch the leaves. A north or east-facing window is typically ideal indoors.

Temperature: Spider plants do well in average room temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). They can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be protected from drafts and cold air.

Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist during the growing season (spring and summer), allowing the top inch (2.5 cm) of soil to dry out between waterings. In fall and winter, reduce watering and let the soil dry out more thoroughly before watering again. Spider plants are sensitive to fluoride and salts, so use distilled or non-fluoridated water if possible.

Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture but allows excess water to drain freely. A mix formulated for houseplants or African violets works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

Fertilizing: Feed spider plants with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength every 2-4 weeks during the growing season. Reduce feeding in fall and winter when growth slows down.

Humidity: Spider plants prefer moderate humidity but can tolerate lower humidity levels. They benefit from occasional misting, especially during dry indoor conditions.

Potting: Repot spider plants in spring when they become root-bound or outgrow their pot. Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) larger in diameter than the current pot. Spider plants produce offsets or "spiderettes" that can be planted to propagate new plants.

Propagation: Spider plants are easy to propagate by dividing the plant or planting the spiderettes (small plantlets that grow on long stems). Simply cut the spiderettes from the parent plant and plant them in moist soil or water until roots develop.

Pruning: Trim yellow or brown leaves and remove spent flowers regularly to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's appearance.

Pest Control: Spider plants are relatively pest-resistant, but occasionally they may attract spider mites or mealybugs. Treat any pests promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil, following the manufacturer's instructions.
